Yay! For The Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi

We've talked and written about it before here and here and we still believe that the Water Taxi is still one of the best things to do in Fort Lauderdale.

We try to take it at least once, every time we are down here and this past spring was no exception.

Originally they had just one route sailing along the canals of Fort Lauderdale but now they actually have 3 routes, one extends all the way down to Hollywood and the other services New River.  With 3 distinct routes, they now have transfer stops so you can hop from one route to the other.

They also have a larger boat that can be hired for private gatherings and charters. Here it is waiting for its party guests just outside of the newly renovated Shooters Restaurant.

Speaking of Shooters, your Water Taxi ticket offers discounts at over 60 "Cruise and Save" partners along the taxi's route which include restaurants, bars, shops, and museums. Honestly we haven't tried many of the partners and the ones we have we haven't been impressed by.

Shooters happens to be one of them...but if you're looking for a drink and some small bites to eat and it's happy hour we recommend Chart House a couple of doors down. They are pricey at regular times but their happy hour is great with all happy hour food priced at $4, $5, and $6.

If you're looking for a real meal we prefer BoKampers over Shooters, it has better quality food and service. It's also on the water but on the other side of the Oakland Park bridge.

Ticket prices have gone up a little since we first started taking the Water Taxi several years ago but the fare is well worth it, especially if you make a day out of it.

2016 PRICES

Adult All Day Pass $26.00 - Unlimited rides all day.
Youth All Day Pass $ 121.00 - Youth 5 – 11 years.
Military/Senior All Day Pass $ 21.00 - Seniors 65 and over.

MOONLIGHT MADNESS – After 5pm $ 16.00 Adults & Seniors

They also have 3-day and Annual Passes but we haven't found either to be worth it. Taking the Water Taxi is a treat and if we did it too frequently it would take away some of the fun.

The Water Taxi is a must-do for all Fort Lauderdale vacations, vacationers, snowbirds and part-time residents.
