Fort Lauderdale is often referred to as Paradise by the residents who live here, the many tourists who visit here, and the northerners who flock here to spend the winter season year after year. We consider ourselves all of the above.
You see, we don't live here full time, and we’re not exactly snowbirds—we are a hybrid, coming back and forth to Fort Lauderdale every couple of months for a couple of months or so, both winter and summer. We've been doing this for over 6 years now (although we've been coming down to South Florida for the last 25). We love it here and can't get enough!
As hybrids, we experience it all--we behave like tourists, live like residents, and face the issues of snowbirds. The problem is that with so many things to do and see, you can never be sure if you're doing the right thing or getting the best deal. And, we personally, hate that feeling.
So… After research, asking friends and neighbors, and, yes, trial and error, we've learned some things we wished we'd known way back when.
Things like,
What are...
- The best hotels and resorts?
- Good car rental deals?
- The best restaurants?
- The top 10 attractions?
- The best ways to get around town?
- Getting to and from the airport?
Where's...
- The best shopping?
- Luxury accommodations?
How do you find....
- Honest trades people?
- Quality home owner's insurance?
- A Lawyer? Doctor? Dentist?
Over time you learn many things, get some great advice, or happen across the best kept secret in town. So now, instead of feeling like we're being taken advantage of, we're able to take advantage of all that Fort Lauderdale has to offer.
That's why we created this website, to document what we've learned about both visiting and living in Fort Lauderdale and to share that knowledge with others. We hope that you'll also share some of your experiences with us for the benefit of all.
As the old saying goes "pay it forward…"
