Anglins Beach Cafe - Commercial Pier

Since Lauderdale-by-the-sea did such a great job revamping the area near the beach at the Pier we've been spending a fair amount of time in the area and  thought we'd give the Beach Cafe another chance.

We hadn't eaten there in a couple of years and although the scenery and setting were great the food was just average and a little greasy. Boy have things changed!

Although we noticed a name change to Organic Beach Cafe last year and the addition of a new side terrace we still never found the time to give it another try. We wish we had sooner....

Over a period of 2 weeks we've been twice for breakfast and once for lunch and the food was fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. We highly recommend it.

And if you're looking for a twist on a standard Bloody Mary or Bloody Caesar you have to try their pickle juice versions. They're Lip Smackin' good!

UPDATE: We had a great fish and chip lunch here with two Margaritas each---turns out our liquor bill was more than the food so keep that in mind if you're on a budget.

On our second visit to the Cafe, we decided to venture out to the end of the pier. (There's a $2 entrance fee if you're just looking around or $7 if you want to fish--they also rent fishing gear for an additional cost).

We can hardly believe that we've been coming here for years and have never been on the pier. We've walked under it hundreds of times on our daily beach walk but never realized how spectacular the views were from above and how clear and green the water appeared to be.

We could actually see our condo!

Although the Beach Cafe and Pier are attached, they're run by different organizations. Maybe this guy enjoying the day on the pier is one of the owners. He and many of his pelican relatives were all over the pier, acting as if they owned the place.

Being on the Pier was a great way to spend the morning. It's much longer and reaches farther out into sea than we ever imagined. The picture below (looking back at the entrance) was taken from less than a quarter of the way down.

With all that's new in Lauderdale-by-the-sea it's really time to visit if you haven't done so.

Have a great breakfast outdoors, spend a few hours sunning on the Pier, counting your blessings, and enjoy your day in South Florida while your friends and family up north dig themselves out of the snow.
