A Different View of Fort Lauderdale!

We were lucky enough last week to be invited for a day of sailing on the impressive yacht - The Impulsive Too.  Here is their site: http://impulsivetoo.com/, and yes, it's for sale!

While we weren't impulsive enough to buy it (yet!) we had a terrific time, and wanted to share a taste of the experience with you. If you haven't spent a day offshore, you get a whole new perspective of Fort Lauderdale!  We are adding a few pictures here, but believe me, we took lots more! We cruised out near the 15th Street Fisheries, then right out to sea - but had the waters been rough, we would have enjoyed cruising the Intercoastal just as much.

We saw huge, wild sea turtles poking their long necks and heads out of the water,  and literally thousands of opaque, floating jellyfish (which we learned is a sign of a really negative global ecological shift). We kept our eyes open for dolphins and great white sharks, but we were enjoying each others company and the amenities of the yacht so much that we missed those.

We brought our own food on board, but there was a terrific First Mate who attended to our every need. The Captain Sean, from South Africa, was visiting from the owner's other boat, The Impulsive, which is in the Mediterranean now.

While Fort Lauderdale offers so many on-land attractions, and gorgeous beaches with that amazingly warm water, this was our first time to see it from the sea.

So many great things about a day at sea - we timed it so that we sailed away in the afternoon, and returned after sunset. You all remember how at the end of the ball, Cinderella's coach turned back into a pumpkin? That's what stepping off the ship was for us when the night was over.

If you get the chance, check out the famous Fort Lauderdale Boat Show this October (http://www.showmanagement.com/fort_lauderdale/event/) - you will be blown away!  And please try to take a day trip out to sea - the views are wonderful, and the breeze feels great!

And we all agreed that the most special feature on the ship was the mirrored ceiling over the bed in the Master Cabin - but we will keep those pictures private...
